Tim Henrik Seib - known to most as Henne - is a Berlin-based designer and creative technologist whose work centers on exploring cutting-edge technologies. Throughout his projects, he focuses on the potential and impact of emerging tech, always reflecting on ethical use cases and responsible design. Guided by Marshall McLuhan’s quote, “We shape our tools & thereafter our tools shape us,” Henne views design not just as aesthetics, but as a societal responsibility capable of influencing how we live. This is why his work begins by asking why?—to ensure building the right product—before asking how? to build it right. After a volunteer year in Tbilisi, Georgia (via the German UNESCO), Henne pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Internet of Things at HfG Schwäbisch Gmünd—a program merging design, informatics, and electronics to fuse creativity with engineering. His bachelor’s thesis, developed in collaboration with Fraunhofer ENAS, introduced a confidential medical ultrasound patch for continuous patient monitoring, an innovation currently under consideration by medical companies. During his studies, he interned (and later freelanced) at AKQA, earning their “Newcomer of the Year 2022” award, and further broadened his perspective through an Erasmus+ semester at the Holon Institute of Technology in Tel Aviv, Israel. Following graduation, he expanded his Design Thinking skills at the HPI D-School, focusing on sustainability, and later returned as a coach, teaching innovation methods for digital health applications.
Now, Henne works as a freelance Invention Designer, collaborating with various private clients and design agencies on projects ranging from classic brand and identity design, to digital product and experience design, brand storytelling, strategy and creative technology (future tech). He has even worked on industrial and space design projects – he likens to his work as a “fusion kitchen,” blending disciplines and methods to push boundaries and ‘cook’ up bold, innovative ideas. Beyond his professional pursuits, he devotes his free time to art, including working as a photographer at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. Additionally, he remains a passionate sailor, having competed in national, European, and world championships in his youth. He also occasionally speaks at industry events.
In October 2024, Henne joined the Design & Computation Master’s program in the New Practice in Art and Technology research platform at UdK and TU Berlin. This international, interdisciplinary setting perfectly aligns with his drive to shape tomorrow’s world through meaningful, technology-infused design.
